A delicious baked pasta dish featuring crispy chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Dried Pasta

  • 16 oz dried short pasta

Chicken

  • 2-3 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 6-8 oz each)

Sauce and Cheese

  • 24 oz marinara sauce (I use Rao's for best flavor)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves (freshly minced)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste none black pepper
  • to taste none salt
  • 1 cup water

Vegetables and Herbs

  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced into 1/4-inch pieces)
  • fresh none basil (torn just before serving)
  • fresh none parsley (chopped)

Additional Seasoning

  • to taste none black pepper
  • for garnish none dried Italian seasoning (additional for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Cook pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  • Season chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until cooked through, about 20 minutes. Slice into strips.
  • In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, marinara sauce, cooked chicken, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
  • Transfer mixture to a baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with torn basil, chopped parsley, and dried Italian seasoning before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
