A delicious baked pasta dish featuring crispy chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Dried Pasta
16ozdried short pasta
Chicken
2-3piecesboneless skinless chicken breasts(about 6-8 oz each)
Sauce and Cheese
24ozmarinara sauce(I use Rao's for best flavor)
1cupmozzarella cheese(shredded)
1/2tspgarlic powder
3clovesgarlic cloves(freshly minced)
1tspItalian seasoning
to tastenoneblack pepper
to tastenonesalt
1cupwater
Vegetables and Herbs
1mediumyellow onion(diced into 1/4-inch pieces)
freshnonebasil(torn just before serving)
freshnoneparsley(chopped)
Additional Seasoning
to tastenoneblack pepper
for garnishnonedried Italian seasoning(additional for garnish)
Instructions
Cook pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
Season chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until cooked through, about 20 minutes. Slice into strips.
In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, marinara sauce, cooked chicken, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
Transfer mixture to a baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
Garnish with torn basil, chopped parsley, and dried Italian seasoning before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
