Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare baking dish with parchment or nonstick spray.
Peel and core pears if firm; leave skin on softer varieties. Place pears cut side up in dish and drizzle with lemon juice.
Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Top with butter cubes and vanilla extract.
Bake for 30 minutes, then turn pears cut side down. Spoon caramel over tops and bake for an additional 20-50 minutes until soft and caramel thickened.
Serve warm with ice cream, yogurt, or nuts, spooning caramel over pears.
Notes
Use firmer pears for best results; softer pears may require less baking time.
