Ingredients

Protein

  • 1.5–2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts (cut into even pieces)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4–1/2 teaspoon chili powder or cayenne (optional for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (for extra gloss, optional)

Instructions 

  • Pat chicken dry and toss with olive oil, paprika, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and optional chili powder.
  • Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Arrange chicken in a single layer and cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Toss cooked chicken with 1/2 cup BBQ sauce. Return to air fryer and cook at 390°F (199°C) for 4–6 minutes until caramelized and internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Brush with additional BBQ sauce mixed with honey for shine. Rest for 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce for an hour before cooking.
