  • 4 pound cabbage (chopped)
  • 1 cup yellow onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian option)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup butter (unsalted or vegan)
  • ½ teaspoon old bay seasoning (or cajun seasoning)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  • Chop the cabbage leaves after removing the core and outer layer.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add cabbage, onion, broth, vinegar, seasonings, and stir.
  • Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Uncover and cook for another 15 minutes, ensuring broth doesn't evaporate.
