A simple and flavorful side dish featuring fluffy rice cooked in butter and aromatic bay leaves.

Ingredients

Dairy & Fats

  • 0.33 cup butter
  • 0.5 medium yellow onion (finely diced)

Grains

  • 1.5 cups long grain white rice

Broth & Stock

  • 3 cups chicken stock (or vegetable broth)
  • to taste salt & pepper
  • 2-3 bay leaves bay leaves

Instructions 

  • Melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and sauté for 5-6 minutes. Stir in rice to coat in butter.
  • Add remaining ingredients, cover, bring to boil, then reduce heat and cook for about 15 minutes.
  • Turn off heat, let sit for 10 minutes, then fluff with a fork, remove bay leaves, and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, add dried parsley flakes as a garnish.
