A hearty and flavorful casserole that combines ground beef, cabbage, and cheese for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped ((about 1 small head))
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, undrained ((14.5 ounces))
  • 1 can tomato sauce ((8 ounces))
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.25 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions 

  • Prepare the cabbage by removing outer leaves, cutting into quarters, and chopping into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a skillet, cook onion and garlic until translucent, then add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in chopped cabbage and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased baking dish, spread the meat and cabbage mixture, then add tomatoes, sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Mix well.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using fresh herbs or adding a dash of hot sauce.
