Delicious and hearty cabbage rolls filled with a savory mixture of meat and rice, topped with tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 1 medium head green cabbage

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef (or pork/turkey)

Grains

  • 1 cup uncooked white rice

Condiments

  • 2 cups tomato sauce (low-sodium recommended)

Spices

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • sour cream for serving (optional)

Instructions 

  • Boil cabbage in salted water for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  • Sauté onions in oil until golden, add garlic for the last minute.
  • Mix meat, rice, onions, garlic, dill, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Roll filling in cabbage leaves, tucking in sides.
  • Place rolls in a dish, cover with sauce, and bake at 350°F for 60-75 minutes.

Notes

Serve with sour cream for added creaminess.
