This delicious Dutch baby combines caramelised apples and warm cinnamon for a comforting breakfast or dessert. Fluffy, golden, and bursting with flavor, it's perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 0.67 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.67 cup milk

Eggs

  • 3 eggs

Butter

  • 30 g butter, diced
  • 50 g butter, diced
  • 0.33 cup caster sugar

Apples

  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, 2 cut into thick wedges, 1 sliced thinly

Cinnamon

  • 1 cinnamon quill cinnamon quill, halved
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon, plus extra for garnish

To serve

  • Vanilla bean ice cream and maple syrup

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C (fan-forced). Heat a 25cm ovenproof frying pan in the oven.
  • Mix flour and salt, then add milk and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  • Remove hot pan, add butter, then pour batter into pan. Return to oven and cook for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden.

Notes

Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of maple syrup for extra indulgence.
