A delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese, featuring crisp apple slices and sharp cheddar for a sweet and savory treat.

Ingredients

Dairy

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 slices whole wheat bread (rustic, seedy type)
  • 2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 red apple red apple (sliced thinly)

Additional

  • drizzle balsamic vinegar balsamic vinegar (drizzle)

Instructions 

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice; flip and drizzle balsamic vinegar on the other side.
  • Layer cheese, apple slices, then more cheese on the bread with vinegar; top with remaining slices, butter side out.
  • Cook sandwiches in skillet for 3-4 minutes until golden; flip and cook another 3-4 minutes until cheese melts.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of black pepper or a sprinkle of herbs.
