These flaky, cheesy drop biscuits are infused with fresh chives, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (scoop and level to measure)
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and diced into small cubes)
  • 1 cup Cache Valley Creamery Shredded Triple Cheddar Cheese
  • 3 Tbsp chopped fresh chives
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • Mix in cheddar cheese and chives. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.
  • Scoop 1/4 cup portions onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.

Notes

For flakier biscuits, handle the dough minimally and avoid overmixing.
