A rustic and delicious French-inspired apple galette with warm cinnamon flavors, perfect for a cozy dessert.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)

Filling

  • 3 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ice water

Egg wash and topping

  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar optional for topping

Instructions 

  • Mix flour, sugar, and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Add ice water, form into disk, and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out dough into a 12-inch circle and place on a baking sheet.
  • Add apple filling in center, fold edges to create pleats, brush with egg, and sprinkle coarse sugar if desired.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and apples are tender. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough well for best results and serve warm for maximum flavor.
