A rich and creamy baked pasta dish combining tender chicken, al dente penne, and a luscious Alfredo sauce topped with melted mozzarella. Perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened and diced)
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 16 ounces penne pasta (cooked and well drained)
  • 3 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Garnish

  • to taste fresh chopped parsley (garnish, optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare a 9×13 dish.
  • Make sauce: melt butter, whisk in flour, garlic powder, pepper, salt; cook 1 min.
  • Whisk in milk, chicken stock, cream; add cream cheese and parmesan; remove from heat.
  • Mix in cooked pasta and chicken; layer in dish with mozzarella; bake 20 min, broil until golden.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
