  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1.5 lbs Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt (more to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper (more to taste)
  • 1 small Yellow Onion (finely diced)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1.5 cups Orzo Pasta (uncooked)
  • 4 cups Low-Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, and half of Italian seasoning. Cook chicken until golden, then set aside.
  • Sauté onion until softened, add garlic and red pepper flakes. Toast orzo for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add broth, simmer until orzo is al dente, then stir in cream, Parmesan, and remaining Italian seasoning.
  • Return chicken to skillet, heat through, then serve garnished with parsley.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor.
