Instructions
Cook penne in salted water until al dente; drain and reserve 3.5 fl oz (103 ml) of pasta water.
Cook chicken in olive oil until golden and cooked through; remove and set aside.
Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet until softened; add cream, pesto, and Parmesan, simmering until smooth.
Return chicken to skillet, then add cooked pasta and reserved pasta water to adjust sauce consistency; toss to combine.
Season with salt and pepper, garnish with basil and extra Parmesan, then serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle with additional Parmesan and fresh basil before serving.
