A warm, hearty breakfast perfect for chilly mornings, combining sweet apples, cinnamon, and oats cooked to perfection in the slow cooker.

Ingredients

Dried Fruits & Spices

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or more to taste)
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Fruits

  • 3 medium apples (cored and sliced into bite-sized pieces (peel optional))
  • 1 cup sweetened dried cranberries (or raisins or craisins)

Dairy & Liquids

  • 0.25 cup butter (sliced)
  • nonstick cooking spray nonstick cooking spray

Oats & Liquids

  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats (uncooked)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups apple juice

Instructions 

  • Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; toss with apples and cranberries. Spray slow cooker and add fruit mixture, dot with butter.
  • Add oats, water, apple juice, and salt to a bowl, stir well, then pour over the fruit in the slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours. Serve topped with fruit and a splash of milk if desired.

Notes

Stir before serving if desired for a creamier texture.
