Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup vegan butter, melted
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • ½ cup vegan chocolate chips
  • cup vegan dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk melted vegan butter, brown sugar, applesauce, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients; fold in chocolate chips and chopped chocolate. Chill for 15 minutes.
  • Scoop 2-tablespoon portions, place on baking sheet, top with reserved chocolate, and bake 12-14 minutes. Cool before serving.
