hearty sandwich bread (no large holes)

grated cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, or gruyere)

finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)

Instructions
Toast bread lightly or broil each side for 1–2 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
