Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust

Filling

  • 6 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for topping
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar, packed for topping
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon for topping

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch dish and prepare the filling.
  • Mix apples with lemon juice, sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Fill the crust.
  • Combine topping ingredients and cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling.
  • Bake for 50 minutes until golden and bubbling. Cool for 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the pie cool completely before slicing to allow the filling to set.
