A hearty and flavorful chili perfect for fall, combining ground turkey with seasonal vegetables and warm spices.

Ingredients

olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

ground turkey

  • 1 pound ground turkey

vegetables

  • 1 diced onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 red bell pepper red bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 medium sweet potato (peeled and diced)
  • 1 zucchini zucchini (chopped (optional))

canned goods

  • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh, frozen, or canned)
  • 1 15 oz can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 15 oz can black beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce

liquid

  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

spices

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional for fall flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

cayenne pepper

  • pinch optional cayenne (optional for heat)

Instructions 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground turkey, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Remove excess fat if needed.
  • Add diced onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Cook for 4–5 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Stir in sweet potato, zucchini (if using), corn, spices, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Cook for 2 minutes to toast spices.
  • Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beans, and broth. Stir well and bring to a gentle boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30–35 minutes until sweet potatoes are tender and chili thickens. Stir occasionally.

Notes

Adjust seasonings to taste and top with your favorite toppings like cheese, avocado, or cilantro.
