French Onion Beef Sliders For A Crowd

These savory sliders combine caramelized onions, seasoned ground beef, and melted cheese for a crowd-pleasing appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

Butter

  • 8 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 2 large sweet onions (sliced)
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons beef base (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (divided)
  • to taste Kosher salt and black pepper
  • 24 pieces slider buns
  • 12-16 ounces gruyere or swiss cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions 

  • Melt 2 tbsp butter in a skillet, add onions, and cook on low until caramelized, about 25-30 minutes.
  • Mix ground beef with half of the beef base and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper.
  • Brown the beef with onions, then drain excess grease. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare baking sheet.
  • Assemble sliders: place bottom buns, add beef-onion mixture, cheese, then top buns. Brush with beefy butter mixture and sprinkle seeds and spices.
  • Bake until cheese melts and tops are browned, about 20 minutes.

Notes

Use a good quality cheese for best flavor.
