Garlic Herb Butter Dinner Rolls

Soft, flavorful dinner rolls infused with garlic and herbs, perfect for any meal or special occasion.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated or pressed
  • 1/3 cup fresh herbs (chives, parsley, thyme)
  • 1 cup warm water (110-115F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • teaspoons instant yeast (one packet)
  • 3 tablespoons garlic herb butter
  • ½ cup milk (2% or whole)
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Egg wash

  • 1 egg beaten egg (with a splash of water)

Topping

  • Flaky sea salt flaky sea salt

Instructions 

  • Melt butter, add garlic and herbs, cook until fragrant, then cool slightly.
  • Combine warm water and sugar, stir until dissolved, then add yeast. Warm milk, then mix with garlic-herb butter and add to yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour and salt, knead until smooth and elastic, then let rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  • Punch down dough, divide into 15 pieces, shape into balls, place in greased pan, and let rise until touching, about 20-30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F, brush rolls with egg wash, bake for 20-25 minutes until golden, then brush with remaining garlic herb butter and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.

Notes

For best results, ensure milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
