Ingredients

Dough

  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 ¼ tsp)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110 F)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt

Garlic Herb Butter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions 

  • Activate yeast in warm water with sugar; let sit until frothy (5-10 min).
  • Mix flour and salt; add yeast mixture and melted butter to form dough.
  • Knead dough until smooth; let rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours.
  • Prepare garlic herb butter; punch down dough, roll into rectangle, spread butter mixture.
  • Cut into pieces, layer in greased pan, cover, and rise for 30 min. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 min.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with additional herbs or cheese before baking.
