A flavorful Chinese-American dish featuring crispy chicken in a tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts (cubed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions 

  • Coat the cubed chicken breasts in flour or cornstarch.
  • Deep fry the coated chicken until golden and crispy.
  • In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, garlic salt, and chili flakes; bring to a boil.
  • Pour the sauce over the fried chicken and toss to coat evenly.
  • Serve hot, garnished as desired.

Notes

For extra crunch, double coat the chicken in flour before frying.
