Enjoy tender, flavorful grilled chicken marinated in a sweet and tangy honey mustard sauce, perfect for summer barbecues.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6–8 oz each)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp whole-grain mustard (optional, for texture)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tsp)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp kosher salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • to taste chopped parsley or chives (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (or olive oil for dairy-free, mixed with 1 tsp honey and lemon for finishing)

Instructions 

  • Whisk honey, Dijon mustard, olive oil, vinegar, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper to make the marinade. Reserve 2 tbsp.
  • Marinate chicken: coat with marinade, let sit at room temp for 30 min or chill up to 6 hours.
  • Preheat grill to medium-high (about 400°F). Grill chicken 6–7 min per side until cooked through.
  • Baste with reserved marinade during last 4 min. Rest for 5 min, then slice and serve with optional honey-butter drizzle and herbs.

Notes

Ensure not to burn the honey in the marinade while grilling.
