Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz linguine or spaghetti

Shrimp

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

Butter

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

Garlic

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Lemon

  • 1 large lemon, zested and juiced

Red Pepper Flakes

  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Parsley

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and Black Pepper

Parmesan

  • optional Grated Parmesan for garnish

Pasta Water

  • ½ cup reserved pasta cooking water

Instructions 

  • Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and reserve ½ cup of water.
  • In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat and cook garlic until fragrant.
  • Add shrimp, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper; cook until shrimp turn pink.
  • Stir in lemon juice, zest, remaining butter, and reserved pasta water; cook until heated through.
  • Mix in cooked pasta and parsley, garnish with Parmesan if desired, and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
