These homemade dinner rolls are soft, buttery, and perfect for any meal. Easy to make and irresistibly delicious, they will become a family favorite.
Ingredients
Dough
1
cup
whole milk
(warmed to 100-110°F (38-43°C))
2 ¼
teaspoons
instant dry yeast
(1 packet)
2
tablespoons
granulated sugar
1
large
egg
(room temperature, lightly beaten)
½
cup
unsalted butter
(melted and cooled slightly, plus 2 tablespoons for brushing)
1
teaspoon
fine sea salt
3 ½ to 4
cups
all-purpose flour
(plus more for dusting)
Instructions
Warm the milk, then combine with yeast and sugar. Let sit until foamy (5-10 min).
Add egg, melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix lightly.
Gradually add flour and knead until soft, slightly tacky, and passes the windowpane test.
Let dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, until doubled (1-1.5 hrs). Punch down and divide into 12 pieces.
Shape into balls, arrange in a greased dish, cover, and let rise until puffy (30-45 min). Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake for 18-22 min until golden. Brush with remaining butter and cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For softer rolls, cover with a clean towel during rising.
