Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 1/4 cup bread flour (See note (1))
  • 1 1/3 cup water (See note (2))
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 0.5 tbsp salt
  • 0.5 tbsp sugar

Instructions 

  • Mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Add water and stir until dough forms.
  • Knead until smooth, then let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Divide dough into 8 pieces, shape into cylinders, and place on a baking sheet. Let rise for 1.5 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Score tops, spray with water, and add water to a pan for steam.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crustier roll, spray with water 3-5 minutes before baking.
