A delicious twist on classic cheesesteak, these stuffed peppers are packed with savory steak and melted cheese for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 2 large bell peppers (halved lengthwise, seeds removed)
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion (halved and sliced)
  • 8 ounce mushrooms (thinly sliced)
  • 12 ounces top round steak (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake pepper halves on a baking sheet until tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Cook onion and mushrooms in oil until browned and softened, then add steak and seasonings; cook until steak is done. Stir in Worcestershire sauce.
  • Divide filling into peppers, top with cheese, and broil until melted and browned, about 2-3 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of hot sauce or chopped herbs.
