Praline Pecan French Toast Casserole

A decadent overnight casserole combining rich bread, custard, and praline pecan topping, perfect for brunch or special occasions.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 large challah, brioche or french bread (1 inch cubes)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Praline pecan topping

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp light corn syrup, maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup roughly chopped pecans ((may use more, if desired))

Instructions 

  • Cube bread and dry out overnight or toast briefly under the broiler.
  • Whisk together cream, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg until smooth.
  • Arrange bread in a greased dish, pour custard over, press gently, cover, and chill overnight.
  • Mix butter, brown sugar, syrup, cinnamon, and pecans for topping. Crumble over casserole, then bake at 350°F for 50-55 minutes.
  • Let stand 5 minutes, then serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, and fresh fruit if desired.

Notes

For best results, prepare the night before to allow flavors to meld.
