This quick and easy butter chicken recipe is a creamy, flavorful dish that brings the taste of India to your kitchen in no time!

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1.5 pounds chicken pieces, cut into bite-sized chunks

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon curry powder

Garnish

  • 0.25 cup freshly chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Sides

  • 1 serving naan bread
  • 1 serving steamed rice

Instructions 

  • Marinate chicken with salt, garlic powder, paprika, curry powder, and yogurt for 15 minutes.
  • Cook marinated chicken in oil until golden brown, then set aside.
  • Sauté garlic and onion in butter until translucent.
  • Add tomato sauce and sugar, simmer, then return chicken and stir in cream.
  • Season with spices, simmer for 10 minutes, then finish with butter.
  • Serve hot with naan and rice. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate longer if time allows.
