Salted Caramel Apple Bars

Delicious layered bars combining sweet apples, crunchy topping, and salted caramel for a perfect treat.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1/2 cup salted vegan butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour

Apple Filling

  • 2 large honey crisp or granny smith apples (peeled and thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Topping

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons salted vegan butter, cold

Vegan Salted Caramel

  • 1 recipe Vegan Salted Caramel

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 300°F, line an 8-inch pan with parchment.
  • Mix melted butter, sugar, vanilla; add flour and press into pan. Bake for 15 minutes at 300°F, then increase oven to 350°F.
  • Combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg; set aside.
  • Mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon; cut in cold vegan butter until crumbly. Layer apple filling over crust, sprinkle topping, and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
  • Cool for 30 minutes, chill for 1 hour if desired. Lift out using parchment, cut into squares, drizzle with salted caramel before serving.

Notes

For best results, chill the bars before serving and drizzle with vegan salted caramel for extra flavor.
