Deliciously layered apple pie bars with a salted caramel drizzle, perfect for a sweet treat or dessert.

Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 744 grams medium apples, sliced (sliced between 1/8" and 1/4" thick)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (21 grams)
  • 73 grams light brown sugar, packed
  • 7 grams cinnamon
  • 0.375 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp allspice
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • pinch salt

Crust/Topping

  • 340 grams salted butter, melted
  • 390 grams all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 195 grams old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • 330 grams light brown sugar, packed
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 210 grams granulated sugar
  • 85 grams salted butter, cubed
  • 135 grams heavy cream (½ cup + 1 tbsp)

Salted Caramel Sauce

  • Salted caramel recipe (Use your preferred recipe)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉ and prepare a 9x13 pan with nonstick spray and parchment overhang.
  • Mix apples with filling ingredients and set aside.
  • Melt butter and stir in crust ingredients. Reserve 2 cups for topping.
  • Press remaining crust into pan, top with apple mixture, then sprinkle reserved crust on top. Bake for 38-45 minutes.
  • Cool bars for 1-2 hours, then drizzle with salted caramel before serving.

Notes

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Caramel can be made ahead and stored in the fridge.
