This quick and flavorful stir-fry combines tender chicken with crunchy vegetables and savory sauces for a satisfying meal in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter (or olive oil for lighter version)
  • 1 medium onion (yellow or white, sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 pound chicken breast (diced)
  • 4 cups cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 medium bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 medium carrot (julienned)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • to taste black pepper black pepper
  • to taste salt salt
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (for added heat)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with water for slurry if desired)

Instructions 

  • Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add sliced onion and cook until translucent, about 2 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and diced chicken; cook until chicken is browned, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in shredded cabbage, bell pepper, carrot, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper; cook for 5 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  • If desired, add cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce; cook for 2 minutes.

Notes

For a lighter version, use olive oil instead of butter and reduce soy sauce slightly.
