flaky sea salt or coarse sea saltfor topping
Instructions
Mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar; let sit 5 minutes. In a bowl, combine remaining sugar, egg, 2 tbsp butter, salt, herbs, garlic, and 1 cup flour. Mix on low, then add remaining flour and knead until soft and slightly sticky, about 5 minutes. Let dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, until doubled, about 1-2 hours. Punch down, divide into 12 pieces, shape into balls, and arrange in a greased skillet or baking sheet. Cover and let rise until puffy, about 45-60 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Bake rolls for 23-27 minutes until golden. Brush with remaining butter, sprinkle with sea salt, and cool briefly before serving.
Notes
For best results, ensure dough is kneaded until smooth and passes the windowpane test.
