Ingredients

Batter

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Ganache

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt butter in skillet, then stir in sugar and eggs. Mix in vanilla, fold in dry ingredients, and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Heat heavy cream until simmering, then add chopped chocolate. Let sit, then stir in butter and vanilla to make ganache. Cool slightly.
  • Pour ganache over cooled brownies and spread evenly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with sea salt or add nuts to the batter.
