These flaky, cheesy drop biscuits are perfect for a quick snack or side dish, packed with cheddar and fresh chives.

Ingredients

Dairy and Dry Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter (Very cold, cut into small cubes or grated)
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt (or 1/4 tsp table salt)
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped Chives (or Green Onions)
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk

Instructions 

  • Ensure the butter is very cold; chill in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter (cubed or grated) and cut in until coarse crumbs form.
  • Stir in cheese and chives. Add buttermilk gradually, mixing until just combined and a shaggy dough forms.
  • Scoop ¼ cup portions onto the baking sheet. Bake for 15-17 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Handle the butter quickly to keep it cold for flaky biscuits.
