A quick and flavorful Thai-inspired dish featuring ground chicken, fresh basil, and aromatic chiles, served over jasmine rice.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 small Thai chiles, thinly sliced
  • 1 small shallot, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves, packed, stems removed
  • Cooked jasmine rice, for serving jasmine rice (for serving)

Instructions 

  • Mince garlic, slice chiles and shallot, and pick basil leaves.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 30 seconds.
  • Add garlic, chiles, and shallot; cook 30-45 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add ground chicken; cook 5-7 minutes until no pink and edges are browned.
  • Stir in fish sauce, soy, oyster sauces, and sugar; simmer 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  • Add basil leaves; toss 30 seconds until wilted, then serve over jasmine rice.

Notes

Use fresh basil for best flavor and serve immediately.
