Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions 

  • Cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing on low until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  • Chill dough for at least 30 minutes, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), line baking sheets with parchment.
  • Scoop dough onto sheets, bake for 10-12 minutes, then cool on wire racks.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring.
