Ingredients
Dough
500
g
All-purpose flour
(You can use whole wheat or bread flour as substitutes.)
10
g
Salt
(A couple pinches are all you need for flavor.)
7
g
Active dry yeast
(Instant yeast can be used as well.)
300
ml
Warm water
(Warm, not hot, think baby bath temperature!)
60
ml
Olive oil
(Extra-virgin is recommended for flavor.)
200
g
Fresh tomatoes, sliced
(Use canned tomatoes in a pinch, just drain them well.)
1
handful
Fresh basil, roughly chopped
(Dried basil is fine, but fresh is preferred.)
to taste
Flaky sea salt
(Don’t skip this; it adds flavor!)
optional
Balsamic glaze
(Drizzle before serving for extra flavor.)
Instructions
Mix flour, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Add warm water and olive oil, then knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 220°C (430°F). Spread dough on a baking sheet, then press with fingertips to create dimples.
Top with sliced tomatoes, chopped basil, and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For a crispier crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone.
