Ingredients

Dough

  • 500 g All-purpose flour (You can use whole wheat or bread flour as substitutes.)
  • 10 g Salt (A couple pinches are all you need for flavor.)
  • 7 g Active dry yeast (Instant yeast can be used as well.)
  • 300 ml Warm water (Warm, not hot, think baby bath temperature!)
  • 60 ml Olive oil (Extra-virgin is recommended for flavor.)
  • 200 g Fresh tomatoes, sliced (Use canned tomatoes in a pinch, just drain them well.)
  • 1 handful Fresh basil, roughly chopped (Dried basil is fine, but fresh is preferred.)
  • to taste Flaky sea salt (Don’t skip this; it adds flavor!)
  • optional Balsamic glaze (Drizzle before serving for extra flavor.)

Instructions

  • Mix flour, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Add warm water and olive oil, then knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 220°C (430°F). Spread dough on a baking sheet, then press with fingertips to create dimples.
  • Top with sliced tomatoes, chopped basil, and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

For a crispier crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone.
