Ingredients

Cake Batter

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk or buttermilk (for extra richness)
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp heavy cream or milk

Pinch of salt

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the cake pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the batter, mixing gently.
  • Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes. Cool before frosting.
