Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients

  • 113 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 150 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 0.25 cup full fat sour cream (at room temperature)
  • 0.5 cup whole milk (at room temperature)

Frosting ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 to 5 heavy cream or whole milk (for frosting consistency)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  • Mix dry ingredients; in a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, sour cream, and milk; combine well.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; mix until smooth. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes; cool completely before frosting.
  • Prepare frosting by beating powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth; frost cooled cupcakes.
